Freight Forwarding Operations Manager

Our Freight Forwarding client were established over 10 years and now to provide high levels of customer service to a range of clients importing into the UK from Asia via sea and air. The new Air/ Sea and Road Freight Operations Managers role is based in the Basildon / Brentwood area :

The client are seeking a knowledgeable Operations Manager with a few years of team management experience. You will be working very closely with the Head of UK Operations to ensure the Customs and Operations team deliver an exceptional service and meet all agreed KPIs. A hands on approach is a must.

Responsibilities:
- Managing the day to day running of the Freight Forwarding operations with a hands on approach maintaining your own customers and files.
- Providing top level customer care to clients.
- Dealing with shipments, deliveries, and working alongside the customs department..
- Motivating and training team members.
- Communicating with clients on daily basis regarding collections, deliveries, and common problems on route.
- Liaising with suppliers and customers.
- Communicating with existing Hauliers.
- Optimizing the journeys keeping in mind the balance between profitability and service levels to the clients.
- Confirming orders to hauliers and booking confirmations to clients.
- Coaching, training, developing others & identifying training needs.

Requirements:
- A minimum of 2 years Management experience
- Thorough knowledge of Air, Sea and Road Freight logistics
- Strong customer service skills

Personal attributes:
- Strong organisation skills
- A strong work ethic
- Willing to get stuck into the day to day duties as well as team management
- Possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
