Our client is a national courier company offering same-day, UK overnight and international deliveries throughout the UK and Europe with a base at Birmingham Airport

They now have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Controller/Assistant Finance Manager to join the team at their offices at Birmingham Cargo office. This role has excellent opportunities for growth into the Finance Manager role due to retirement of the current incumbent.
Your role will involve the following responsibilities

Produce and reconcile the daily cash position by reference to banks and known future payments.
Handling invoices for clearance
Input purchase invoices
Produce Payments and aged creditors reports
Send Weekly Insurance Declaration
Deal with any new claims for accident damage vehicles/ goods in transit etc. when arising.
Liaise with Insurance Brokers/Appointed Solicitors for ongoing claims
Manage Direct Debits when needed.
New starter files and contracts of employment as required.
Complete P46 Cars as necessary
Employee Notices and letters as required.
Disciplinary Invites, minutes and letters as required.
Chasing debts as required.
Company forms, licences, assisting with tenders as required.
Dealing with Tax and VAT authorities when required
Assisting Directors as required.
Helping and assisting with preparation for management accounts
Salaries and pensions
Quarterly Vat returns
End of Year accounts, summaries at Salary year end, shutdown for new tax year, P11
Annual Returns for various companies as requested by Companies House, Input of Audit adjustment, final journals and Sage shutdown procedures for new financial year

In order to apply for this role, you will be an experienced Senior Accounts Officer / Accounts Controller / Accounts Assistant Manager with a broad accounting background who can assist the Head of Finance in the short term, then take on further duties allowing him to reduce his working hours medium term with the plan for your role to develop into the Finance Manager in the future due to his retirement

The ideal candidate will be someone who has worked in a senior accounts role for a small business and done a bit of everything in terms of accounts and who likes a varied role. It is important that the applying candidate wants a stable role and likes to work with finance in a busy varied accounts department
