Customer Service Operator - Sameday Logistics


Our client is looking to recruit an experienced customer service operator to join their vibrant team based in the centre of Bolton. This is a role where you will be required to deal with all customer related issues in a professional manner. You will have responsibility for building strong relationships with potential and existing customers to encourage them to use our services. A strong phone manner is key to the role and you must be comfortable working under pressure. You must have the desire and determination to succeed in a fast paced office environment. The company offer an urgent transport service to customers all over the UK. We have a full range of vehicles available from small vans through to articulated trucks. They specialise in the transport of urgent, fragile, abnormal, heavy, high value and difficult to handle goods. They are environmentally friendly with a greener approach to all aspects of their business.


- Taking customer bookings by phone and e-mail.
- Pricing deliveries up on a number of different vehicles.
- Liaising with our traffic department to share information.
- Following up potential sales leads and opportunities in a confident and professional manner.
- Communicating with customers regarding the progress of deliveries and managing their expectations.
- Relationship management.
- Assist in the Management of a small team.
- Occasionally being on call with other members of staff via a rota.

- A proven track record of working in a similar B2B customer service role.
- Experience of working within the courier / transport industry would be highly advantageous.
- A dynamic and confident phone manner is absolutely essential to the position.
- Strong IT skills (e-mail, MS Word, MS Excel etc.).
- Ability to problem solve efficiently and think outside of the box.
- Experience of working in a target driven office environment.
- B2B sales experience would be an advantage but is not essential.
- A good knowledge of the geography of the UK.

- An ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining high standards.
- A keen eye for detail and a strong memory.

- A minimum of 5 years experience of working within a similar B2B role.

- GCSE Maths and English

- Monday to Friday 0800 to 1700 with one hour for lunch.

- £17,000 to £22,000 (depending on experience) plus performance bonuses.
