Shipping Manager

My client is a manufacturer to a worldwide market and is now looking for a Shipping Manager to head up the day to day running of the shipping department. You and your team will get involved in the full import and exports shipping and logistics cycle into Europe and beyond.

Your key responsibilities will include

Managing the shipment and clearance process of imports/purchases into various worldwide locations from a wide variety of origins.
-Set up and maintain shipping files pertaining to purchases made from confirmation of business through to goods already in stock
-Organise deliveries/shipments from our manufacturing facility and 3rd party service providers to customers in a timely and accurate manner.
-Book Multi modal freight from various origins into various destinations
-Prepare and submit relevant documentation, letters of credit, declarations etc.
-Manage the necessary documentation and online forms for the efficient, cost-effective and lawful execution of all import/export activities.
-Communicating with export/import authorities, sales and purchasing departments to ensure a smooth shipping process.
- Liaising with stock control, order processing, quality control to ensure a smooth flow of information between all departments involved in the shipping process.
-Adhere to local and externally relevant health and safety laws and policies.
-Computer literacy is a must (mostly excel).
-Goods are often classified as hazardous (Class 3 & Class 9 mainly) so some knowledge of dangerous goods transportation together with a sound knowledge of INCO terms, UK customs clearances, VAT, etc.

We are looking for candidates to apply with experience gained in the manufacturing sector. Ideally, you will have experience of moving hazardous products as well but this is not essential via air, sea and road freight plus import/export cross trade.
You will be strong and robust in character to be able to deal with all aspects of the shipping process

You will have a good standard of general education combined with a minimum of 5 years similar experience in the manufacturing, Shipping/ freight forwarding industry (not necessarily at a management level).

Salary and Benefits
£35,000 - £40,000
22 days annual leave
Hours of work 09:00 - 17:00 with a 1hour lunch break.
