Freight Documentation Coordinator

Our client is a well-established independent freight forwarder, handling an international shipping service. Offering a professional freight and logistics service that is both personal and tailored to the individual needs of our clients.

Now due to continued expansion we are looking for a documentation co-ordinator to join company in there back office team in Northwich. The role will involve the preparation of client documentation in addition to all processes involved in clearing shipments for export.

Key Responsibilities:

Loading all shipment details into Cargowise.
Process and submit customs declarations.
Check and submit VGMs.
Follow up all non-conformances from shipping lines and liaise with clients to update.
Accurately raise all documentation required for each shipment including, but not limited to, health certificates, certificates of origin and bills of lading.
Ensure all documentation is raised in accordance with the requirements of the clients contract or letter of credit and is raised, processed and submitted within the agreed time frames.
Support and advise clients on all aspects of documentation to ensure their interests are always protected.


A flexible team player, with excellent customer service skills.
The successful candidate will ideally have worked for a freight forwarder or in an export shipping role. Although my client is prepared to train the freight forwarding aspect as long as you have worked in an office environment where you need high levels of accuracy and attention to detail. A banking background is a possible area they would consider candidates from
Ideally experience in customs clearance procedures.
Essential - High levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
Strong and confident communication skills.
Ideally experience in the preparation of complex credit documentation, or a professional working knowledge of the principles involved.
A working knowledge of letter of credit rules and regulations a distinct advantage.
Awareness of and the ability to manage the risks associated with credit documentation.
Essential - Competent computer / IT skills, including word and excel.
Knowledge of Cargowise an advantage.
Ability to adapt to meet changing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Salary is £22,000 to £25,000
Hours are 08:30 hrs to 17:00hrs
09:00 to 17:30 Monday to Friday.
