Area Delivery Manager

Our Client is a market leader in the provision of international and domestic parcel solutions to both businesses and home addresses.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an AREA DELIVERY MANAER to cover our clients busy LONDON SOUTH region, incorporating 6 sites.

The purpose of this role is to ensure that the business meets their clients and customers expectations by leading a team to delivery excellent customer experience in the final mile. The role will provide significant operational knowledge and in-depth expertise to drive continuous improvement across the delivery organisation across quality, performance, budget and experience measures.

You will be accountable for:
To implement strategies that will improve performance across the delivery organisation and develop it for future growth by working with stakeholders across the organisation and successfully leading a team of Regional Delivery Managers.
Pro-actively review and plan strategies to maximise network service to include capacity & resourcing and ensure the successful implementation of these strategies through the leading of their regional teams.
To set and define budgetary criteria for regional management to apply and maintain to ensure cost efficiency across the delivery organisation.
To liaise with finance and commercial management to plan / build the courier round structure for the future, assessing volumes, revenues, and potential impact on staff and courier numbers to future proof the courier network.
Review courier / depot boundaries to ensure most effective deployment of Community Delivery Managers resource to drive efficiency.
Responsible for the maintaining the self-employed status of the network by reviewing the current legislation and exploring new precedents to define the self-employed role whilst building, maintaining and strengthening strong relationships with the Area GMB representatives to ensure that our client remain at the forefront of the self-employed status.
Responsible for outward loss and the strategies for improving the standards through management information, measurement of field team and courier performance.
People leadership. Youll lead and develop a division of people, to drive the people agenda to ensure that we have the best people in the business to ensure the efficiency of our delivery organisation.
Responsible for delivery unit estate across their division by working with the Delivery Unit Business Lead to identify any underperforming delivery units or areas for improvement to ensure capacity is maintained.
Driving improvement in performance across the network by working with Regional Delivery Managers to improve and maintain agreed performance measures to improve customer and client experience.
Health and Safety compliance within Delivery Units to ensure standards are met and maintained so that both Hermes employees and service providers are kept safe.

To be successful in this role you will require the following: Current UK Driving licence
Level 5 Management Qualification or equivalent
IOSH Qualification or equivalent
Knowledge of self-employed courier model
Previous experience of working in a customer focussed industry
Previous experience of setting and managing a budget
Previous experience of coaching, supporting and motivating colleagues
Problem solving and planning effective contingencies and solutions
Previous experience of managing an agile team
Customer Focused approach
Competent negotiation skills
Ability to adapt to different styles and behaviours
Excellent track record of influencing skills, influencing decisions at differing levels and improving efficiencies in operations
Ability to identify opportunities to improve operational processes
Takes ownership of issues and sees them through to resolution

The client would welcome management professional who has been successful in managing a multisite agile workforce. Retail/FMCG/ Waste Management candidates are of particular interest.

£70k - £80k basic salary
