Freight Operations Manager

We are now recruiting due to expansion and development a Freight Operations Manager to manage the air and sea freight division in Bristol, reporting into the Branch Manager

Your role will involve managing and supporting a team of 8 freight operations and Sales staff covering a sea and air freight import and export operation. You and your team will get involved with the full air and sea imports and exports freight forwarding operations cycle

Your role will involve achievement of operational targets in line with budgetary constraints.
You will get involved with the recruitment, training, motivation, development and management of all personnel to achieve total customer focus.

Negotiating contract buy rates on a local basis with major ocean and airline carriers both for import and exports.
Ensuring the optimal use of resources, both internal and external maximising cost effectiveness and maintaining service levels while continually seeking alternative methods to improve service levels.
In order to apply for this role, you will have a proven track record in Air & Sea freight operations this is essential. You will have a supervised or managed a freight forwarding team and be commercially driven with ideally a forwarding relevant trade qualification desirable.

You will be extremely customer focused with the ability to problem solve and make decisions in the best interest of the business and have the ability to remain focused in a pressurised work environment.

You will have strong freight management experience with experience of setting KPIs,working to budgets with good financial acumen

Strong problem solving, planning and organisational skills with the ability to multi task whilst working to tight deadlines.

Be a hands-on team player and lead from the front with the right insight to motivate others and encourage change where necessary with excellent interpersonal & administration skills with strong attention to detail.

Effective people management skills, ability to communicate effectively at all levels within/outside the business.
Be computer literate with a strong level of I.T. skills.

Benefits:
Salary £35,000 - £42,000 flexibility for the right individual
25 days holiday per year plus statutory 8 (January-December)

Standard hours Mon-Fri 9-5.30pm, 1 hour for lunch
