Development Coach/Trainer - Freight Forwarding

The Role - Development Coach - Freight Forwarding - Glasgow / Edinburgh and surrounding Scottish Lowlands

Job Purpose

Our Training and Development client specialise in delivering Apprenticeship qualifications in the Logistics and International Freight Forwarding Industry. The sector is rapidly expanding, and businesses are looking to recruit new and upcoming talent through the Apprenticeship route.

Our client are now looking to recruit individuals with solid industry experience in International Freight Forwarding and customs clearance processes and procedures to support their Apprentices through their learning and development.

The role will involve working with Apprentices to identify their learning and development needs, support them through training and coaching in the workplace, delivery of workshops, the completion of on line learning modules, and to help them learn the skills, knowledge and behaviours required in the freight forwarding and logistics industry.

Your role will be working for our subsidiary Company, who specialise in skills training and coaching through an apprenticeship pathway.

Your role will include delivering the new International Freight Forwarding Apprenticeship (and associated logistics qualifications) to a cohort of learners undertaking an apprenticeship programme in the East of England.

The Apprenticeship Development Coach -Trainer (ADC) is responsible for the delivery of the coaching and mentoring elements of the Apprenticeship. Ensuring timely achievement to a range of learners of different age ranges. They will be responsible for preparing candidates for their relevant End Point Assessment (EPA).

The role will include high quality coaching support, assessment planning, monitoring and formal reviewing of the candidates progress towards meeting the apprenticeship programme. The ADC is required to manage the training and development of a caseload of candidates and will involve travel to a range of employer premises to coach and assess candidates.

The ADC will carry out the initial assessment process by effective planning and reviewing of the candidates prior achievements, training needs and employer needs. All of which must be updated regularly on an individualised learning plan. The ADC will be required to use e-portfolio and the updating of candidate progress on the learning management system (LMS).

You will train groups of learners with Functional Skills requirements (English, maths and ICT) and also deliver other workshops in line with training requirements


- Manage a portfolio of learners to achieve the required outcomes in the workplace
- To undertake training, assessments and reviews within sector specialism / occupational area(s) - Electronic system base E portfolio
- Provide mentoring and support to Learners, in order to achieve Seetecs training outcome targets
- Design and Implement course work material
- Adhere to companies and procedures at all time

Person Specification

Qualifications & Experience

- International Freight Forwarding experience, specialising in road, sea and/or air freight.
- Strong current knowledge of Customs processes and procedures
- Live in Glasgow / Edinburgh or surrounding Scottish Lowlands
- Ideally a Qualified Assessor holding a current Cava A1 Assessor Qualification or the older D32-33 version.
- GCSE or Equivalent in Maths and English grade C and above
- Confident use of IT software packages and Microsoft Office
- Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships
- Self -motivated
- Target and result driven working to SLAS
- A positive and enthusiastic approach with a can do attitude

National travel - you will have no permanent place of work and will be required to attend various locations in the course of your working week. You are entitled to claim business mileage/travel expenses and for these purposes we will use your home address as your base location

Hours: 37 hours a week - full time

£27,200 to £32,000
Poss car allowance
Mileage allowance 45pm a mile
