Transport Operations Manager

Our Client is a market leader in the provision of international and DOMESTIC PARCEL solutions to both businesses and home addresses.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to for a TRANSPORT OPERATIONS MANAGER to manage the fleet operation at our clients North West Hub and be responsible for the delivery of a safe, legally compliant and cost-efficient transport operation.

You will have overall responsibility for a fleet of roughly a 100 vehicles and trailers and directly manage a team of 20 and indirectly a team of a 100+.

Working alongside the other senior Managers, you will be responsible for all transport systems and processes, identifying and developing new ways of working to meet the needs of the business, so that we continue to provide the best possible service to our clients.

This is a varied and fast-paced role where you will work across multiple projects and working groups to meet the business needs but some of your duties will be to ensure that our trunking schedule meets the needs of our clients and are the most efficient and cost-effective operating schedules for our business. This includes the management of a 7 day pre-agreed/planned client collections service and Depot delivery schedule.

And you will hold the overall accountability for our Operators license in the Hub transport operation. Dealing with issues and enquiries and ensuring on-going legal compliance with the support of our regional HSES team.

Because of the 24/7 nature of our operation, this is NOT a Monday-Friday, 9-5pm position. To support our operation and manage your fleet fully, there will be occasions when you will be on site across the night shift and potentially weekends as needed. But more importantly you must be able to make operational and strategic decisions at pace and have the self-belief to commit to a plan of action by becoming the Transport subject matter expert.

To be successful in this role you must have an in-depth knowledge of transport legislation compliance and the legal compliance for fleet and drivers.

The Transport Operations Manager will report in to the Head of Client and Network Distribution.

This position is ideal for someone who wants to make a difference and be responsible for positive change. Improved and more efficient ways of working are encouraged.
Experience within Operational Logistics and knowledge of Transport Governance-(O Licence desirable) is critical as is being a CPC National or International Holder. You must be able to work collaboratively and take the lead on projects amongst your peers.
