Traffic Desk Coordinator

Our CLIENT is a member of one of the fastest-growing PALLET DISTRIBUTION networks in the UK, with a comprehensive and expanding service to mainland Europe.
A fantastic opportunity has now arisen for a TRAFFIC DESK COORDINATOR based in our clients WAKEFIELD location.

You will be tasked to support and work closely with a team of 2 Traffic Clerks and will be tasked with ensuring all drivers rounds are covered and are out on time in the mornings. The role is to work on the 6am to 4pm shift and will also involve route planning Full Loads, Groupage, Back Loads and Pallet Distribution.

Main Roles & Responsibilities:

Communicate effectively with the other traffic planning team on a daily basis and get an immediate understanding of planned routes, vehicle allocations and driver availability.
React to vehicle defects and driver absence and cover with agency staff if necessary, in line with company procedures.
Preparation of customer paperwork. Maintain effective systems to ensure drivers receive the correct manifests and delivery paperwork including PDAs.
Commence escalation plan in event of any failures and ensure the Customers are notified.
Progress check allocated jobs throughout the day, especially timed and am slots and check and respond to messages.

The clients preference it that you will already have a comprehensive book of UK subcontractors to be called upon at short notice. You will implement and maintain service levels, dispatching back loads to the subcontractors and owner drivers and liaise with customers on a daily basis ensuring a smooth and professional service is provided at all times.

To be the successful candidate for this exciting opportunity you will have a high level of experience gained from a HAULAGE / PALLET / FREIGHT background, you will be used to working in a fast paced environment and be extremely customer focused. You will have excellent communication and organisation skills. You will be able to work as part of a team as you will be working in a dual control operation and be able to work under your own initiative. You will also need to have excellent UK geographical knowledge and experience working in a larger network.

£25k - £30k basic salary
20 days holiday
