IT Officer

Our client is a well-established global service provider to the Freight forwarding, express and international parcels, and warehousing and logistics industry
The network has more than 354 locations across 60 countries and with 13,000 employees serving alliance customers and attending to the details of their business round the clock, around the globe.
We are now recruiting for an IT Officer to work at my clients site in Colnbrook, Heathrow.

The successful candidate will be using our support desk to assist in the administration of a busy medium sized site and providing remote line 1 & 2 technical support to other sites within the business. This will involve deployment and maintenance of Windows Clients, some Windows, Linux and VMWare based Server administration as well as regular face to face contact with non-IT colleagues during installation/assistance tasks.

In order to apply you will have..

Strong inter-personal and communication skills; capable of training users in applications and Windows fundamentals and writing basic documentation.
Capable of handling tricky Layer 8 problems to everyones satisfaction.
Capability to work via a support desk ticketing system helping both local site and remote users needing assistance, providing a cheerful and helpful window to the IT support team.
High skill with of most Windows commands/utilities.
Familiarity with most basic system administration tools and processes.
Fundamental understanding of a Windows-based operating system; for example, understanding of how the Active Directory system is used in a Domain Environment to control workstations.
Strong understanding of Microsoft Office; capable of training users to make use of specific applications to an intermediate level.
Good understanding of hardware support, able to troubleshoot and repair most simple hardware issues, for example failed network cables/cards.
Have worked in a Windows Server 2008 ->2019 Environment
Basic level of skill in supporting VOIP telephony hardware.

Required Background:
One to three years of Windows system administration experience.

A degree in computer science or a related field.
Understanding of Windows Internals
MCP Desktop Support Certification
Familiarity with networked/distributed computing environment concepts; routing, VLANs, ACLs, firewall systems, adding a workstations to a network, and mount & troubleshoot remote file systems for end users. Ability to write scripts in some administrative language (Powershell, vb, vba).
Understanding WAN & LAN hardware technologies. Familiarity with Cisco, HP Procurve, Vyatta GUI & CLI technologies an advantage.

Start Date ASAP
Salary up to £27,800 per annum depending on experience
Hours Monday Friday, 9am 5:30pm (37.5 hours per week)
Bonus Eligible for scheme - 4%
Reporting Reporting to the IT Support Manager
