Stock Investigator

Our client is a distributor of health care products and services with a worldwide presence they are now looking for a Stock Investigator for their office in Gillingham, Kent. Your role will form part of a stock investigation team tasked with reducing stock losses for Consumable and Equipment on site and off site. The team will generate adjustment reports (on a daily, weekly and monthly basis) analyse stock loss trends, create a risk-based strategy to identify and target stock loss areas, work closely with other departments to correct adjustments in a timely fashion, recommend and implement process improvements, process standardisation, and training. The role is also responsible for periodically reviewing and evaluating process checks and improvements to ensure tangible results are delivered.

Reporting into the Inventory Operation Manager, and working closely with Operations, Inventory Control, Inventory Management, Regulatory, Equipment, and Finance and field-based teams. The successful candidate requires a strong bias for problem solving, highly analytical and logical, with the ability to communicate and influence team members not working directly within the team. Previous experience in a fast-paced Distribution Centre and an in-depth knowledge of a complexed Warehouse Management System are desirable particularly JD Edwards, however training will be supplied

Main responsibilities will involve.

Generate daily, weekly and monthly Warehouse Adjustment reports
Organise adjustment data to target adjustment based on volume, value and risk to public health. Analyse trends
Target Consumables stock loss anomalies. Investigate and establish the root cause for expiry dated
Work closely with on-site Inventory control, Inventory Management, Operations, Equipment, Regulatory, Field Sales and Engineers, Customer Service and Finance during investigation for timely adjustment and identification of the root cause of each major adjustment. Ensure stock is reconciled in a timely fashion to maintain accuracy of physical stock matching Warehouse Management System stock. Communicate with all parties the root cause of adjustments.
Work with parties to co-ordinate recommendation and implement preventative actions. These will include process improvements including moves to and from locations, methods of counting and rotating, product and location set up (including recommendations for slotting).
Work with relevant teams on solutions and periodically checking recommendations and processes are in place. Evaluate the success of the implemented changes by monitoring changes of adjustment levels and the reduction of company stock losses.
Ensure Quality Assurance and Regulatory teams have been informed of changes and to ensure relevant work instructions have been updated.

Logical thinker who can quickly understand process, identify root cause and innovate solutions
Working knowledge of a Warehouse Management system desirable, although training will be supplied. Similar database or use of data to establish trends and implementing solution will also be considered.
The ability to work calmly under pressure to meet deadlines is a fundamental part of the job, and a working knowledge and experience of a high-volume Distribution Centre is desirable.
