BDM - Express Parcels

Our client is a well-established global service provider to the Freight forwarding, express and international parcels, and warehousing and logistics industry
The network has more than 354 locations across 60 countries and with 13,000 employees serving alliance customers and attending to the details of their business round the clock, around the globe.
We are now looking for a Business Development Manager to develop Express business in support of the companys business and growth plans. Driving sales pipeline development to secure business whilst developing growth in key business segments.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Prospect for potential new clients and turn this into increased business.
Cold call as appropriate within your market or geographic area to ensure a robust pipeline of opportunities.
Meet potential clients by growing, maintaining, and leveraging your network.
Identify potential clients, and the decision makers within the client organisation.
Research and build relationships with new clients.
Plan approaches and pitches.
Work with team to develop proposals that speaks to the clients needs, concerns, and objectives.
Participate in pricing the solution/service.
Handle objections by clarifying, emphasising agreements and working through differences to a positive conclusion.
Use a variety of styles to persuade or negotiate appropriately.
Present new products and services and enhance existing relationships.
Work with technical staff and other internal colleagues to meet customer needs and develop revenue streams.
Arrange and participate in internal and external client debriefs
Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on market and creative trends.
Present to and consult with mid and senior level management on business trends with a view to developing new services and products
Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to an increase in sales.

In order to apply for this role you will

Be a business development professional with a track record of working in multi-faceted courier/logistics organisation. Knowledge and experience of express environment is essential.
Have a good technical background
Have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain lasting relationships
Have strong oral and written communication skills and a track record of winning business
Experience of writing successful significant sized bids or tenders is desirable.
Have excellent project planning skills and be competent in financial modeling to support bid activity.
Have the ability to prioritise, multi-task and work to targets and deadlines, both independently and as part of a team.
Be familiar with CRM databases and possess strong IT skills.

This job is very B2B focussed and experience in Express sales is key, any experience gained in Freight or RoadFreight is a bonus, but the focus needs to be on Express.

You will deliver multiple of one times salary in GP of profitable new business within 12 months and pipeline of over £2m within the same period and delivery of annual targets in year 2 of two times salary is expected in GP.

Salary: Circa £34,000 + Commission + Car Allowance + Pension
