Night Transport Planner

Our client is one of the market leading companies providing efficient logistics and inventory management solutions in and en route to hospitals.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a NIGHT COURIER PLANNER based at our client busy COVENTRY site.

The main purpose of the role is the effective planning for the safe and efficient transport of medical cargo in accordance with company operational procedures, statutory requirements, ensuring Health & Safety, customer satisfaction and timely delivery.

Responsibilities include:
Accurately plan the delivery and/or collection to/from hospitals and other locations across the UK of medical supplies, life-saving equipment, and associated documentation in for the following day.
Ensure transport compliance in line with legislation, and company policies and operating procedures such as assigning routes and cargo to appropriate vehicle types to ensure correct manual handling is observed.
Ensure route optimisation but ensuring the handling of goods must be with care, integrity and an understanding that damage to this equipment could have potential impact on patient safety.
Arrange with approved hauliers for transport of cargo, confirm availability of equipment and agree prices where no tariff exists in order to maximise cost effectiveness.
Communicate any delivery or collection discrepancy when it occurs and amend the plan to avoid any potential service failure.
Follow delivery route to optimise efficiency and meet hospital schedules.
Communicate with drivers and hauliers to ensure they know their delivery requirements, routes and any special requirements such as pre-9am deliveries.
Complete, where possible, deliveries which would otherwise remain unplanned.
Ensure that reasonable care is taken at all times for the health, safety and welfare of you and other persons and to comply with the policies and procedures relating to health and safety within the Company

Skills and Experience
Proven track record in LOGISTICS and PLANNING within a similar role or environment, preferably within the HEALTHCARE and/or SAMEDAY/ TIME CRITICAL industry.
Must have very strong UK postcode and geography knowledge.
Experience of development and execution of plans covering the commercial and customer service requirement of the business
Working knowledge of driver hours and working time directive.

Hours of Work - Monday to Friday, 6pm to 4am

Up to £30k basic salary
